YOUTHPASS beyond Youth in Action
CONSULTATION SEMINAR «YOUTHPASS BEYOND YOUTH IN ACTION»PARIS (FRANCE), 13 – 16 MAY 2012
Organised by the National Agencies for the Youth in Action Programme of France and Germany, in partnership with the SALTO Resource Centre for Training and Cooperation
Having been used widely since its introduction in 2007, Youthpass has proved its value and raised a lot of interest not only within but also outside the Youth in Action Programme. By May 13 2012, 152.618 Youthpass certificates have been issued by 7.195 youth organisations covering 14.504 projects.
A clear need for a transnational and trans-sector recognition instrument like Youthpass has been repeatedly stated by different actors from the youth policy and youth work field. In order to make a step towards the needs of these actors, the Youth in Action Programme Committee decided to explore the possibility to extend the implementation and the use of Youthpass beyond the Youth in Action Programme.
31 practitioners -youth workers, youth trainers, national agency representatives and other concerned stakeholders- representing youth organizations from all European member states met in Paris for a Consultation Seminar on «Youthpass beyond Youth in Action». This seminar was an important step towards the recognition of the eight competences which can be gained from the participation in non-formal learning activities and are described in the Youthpass certificate. The participants had the opportunity to cooperate with a number of actual authors of the Youthpass publications http://www.youthpass.eu/en/youthpass/downloads/
The main aim of the seminar was to bring together different stakeholders to discuss how to use Youthpass outside the Youth in Action Programme. The outcomes of the seminar were:
- Overview of activities for which Youthpass would be appropriate outside Youth in Action
- Ideas on how to adapt Youthpass in terms of support structure, process and certification
- Identification of potential partners for the further development of Youthpass beyond Youth in Action
- Recommendations for the SALTO Resource Centre and the European Commission about future steps to be undertaken.
